La Belle Dame sans Merci For this assignment I have elect a poem of John Keats La Belle Dame sans Merci. It is truly from the Romantic Period, the late 18th century. The poem is named after an older poem written by the French author Alain Chartier in 1424. He mentions that the knights forehead and cheeks are losing their wring by comparing his forehead to a white lily and his cheeks to a fading rose. The heart-broken knight tells his story about a lady he has met. I met a lady in the meads, direct beautiful- a faerys child. She did not pack to the knight.
